Adventures with Atton

When Will opens the door, its hot in Sherwood and the air is heavy and humid. The other men aren't too far away and give a wave to Will and Atton as Will asks,

"Any more trouble?"

"Na yet, but Allan's goin' to the inn to see if 'e can 'ear more."

John answers and sighs, none of them like what's coming.

"Sure. Anything t'help," Atton says.

The others nod and move off as Will pats Atton the back,

"Keep safe as ye can, aye."

"I always keep safe."

"Aye, aye, ye do."

Will grins and soon they all fade into the forest as Allan nods at Atton,

"'ow 'ave ye been?"

"Bored, mostly. There was a big thing a while ago, and that was fun, but not much lately."

"What sort o'big thing?"

The forest is fairly quiet around them as they reach the main road.

"Sort of big scavenger hunt thing. Will helped me out with that."

"Aye, 'e spoke o'it, said ye saw lots o'different sorts o'places."

"Yeah. Some of them were nicer than others."

"Said also that the physician went with ye. Glad ye're 'ere though, ye 'ave a good trick o'scarin' folks."

"But I'm not scary," Atton says innocently.

(Clearly, there is nothing scary about an over six foot, battle-scarred, tufty-haired, ear-pierced, silvery-eyed, growly-voiced, giant-sword-toting warrior thief.)

"And yeah, Guppy Sandhu. Will and I taught him how to fight with a sword."

"Aye an neither is Little John. 'e'd ne'er swung one 'fore?"

"Never."

"Must 'ave been 'ard for 'im."

"He coped very well."

[will_scarlett]

"Good. 'ave ye seen that shapeshiftin' fox lass at all?"

Its not very long before a few people appear on the road as they near the edges of Nottingham.

"Nah. Never met any of them."

"Oh."

Allan almost pouts, Laini was beautiful and he hopes she does come back to Sherwood someday.

With a small laugh, as Atton draws his hood up: "If I see a fox woman, I'll send her your way."

"Thank you, ne'er met anyone who kissed like 'ere."

Allan grins and as they approach a tavern starts to strum his lute and sing, which gains them a few looks and smiles.

Atton sticks behind Allan. Best to let him lead the way and find the right people to talk to.

"So, how're we doing this, then?"

"I'll start off by doin' some singin' an such then ye can join in with some stories 'bout the 'orrors ye faced in Sherwood. Mean if ye're worried then ordinary folks will be."

"Am I being a guy who was foolish enough to try and capture any of the outlaws? I can be a foolish guy."

"Aye, an I found ye 'urtin' on my way 'ere."

"Sounds good."

Atton adjusts himself so that he looks like he's limping. It's subtle enough to make it seem like he was always limping.
