Sherwood Plot-First Team
The door opens onto Sherwood where the men are gathered. Little John sees this group and gives a nod,
"Ye're with me, let's get movin'."
"Ye're with me, let's get movin'."
Re: Ambush
It doesn't seem to be working, and so Jack scrambles for balance and then springs forward to the seat of the cart.
His sword clashes hard against the guard's crossbow, while his wildly flailing fist strikes the driver hard across the nose.
"Not good!"
Re: Ambush
The crossbowmen is trying his best to fight off Jack but so far all he's got for his troubles is a broken nose. In desperation he punches upwards with the crossbow at Jack.
Re: Ambush
Jack ducks down and to the side, helpfully clearing the way for the crossbow to smash into the driver's sword. In their moment of distraction, he scrambles up onto the back of the cart and aims a kick at the driver's head.
Re: Ambush
This might not be such a bad situation except there's a bit of a huge pot hole in the road which bounces the cart.
Re: Ambush
Jack goes sprawling with the force of the bump, fetching up against the side of the chest.
"Aha!"
In the next moment, he's scrambled around it to the side and started to pull the straw and the blanket off of it.
Re: Ambush
The bump caused the crossbowmen to almost lose his bow and he turns trying to pull Jack away from the chest.
A wheel starts to wobble as the mud flies.
Re: Ambush
Really, that likely would have gone much better had a handful of mud not spattered into his face at the opportune moment.
Re: Ambush
Luck is not on the driver's side as the horses are still panicking and then they hit a huge puddle where cart goes down, horses go up.
Re: Ambush
"Doesn't anyone know how to drive this blasted thing? Give me a good solid ship any day-- even the Dutchman with all her holes were more use--"
He snatches the blanket up and tosses it over the bowman's head, then sets to shoving at the chest, trying to push it out the back of the cart.
Re: Ambush
All this does is make the cart move even more. The horses pull but the cart's been fortified so that means the horses are gone leaving the driver to deal with Jack.
Its a heavy chest and it doesn't want to move at all as the cart starts to sink into the mud.
Re: Ambush
Steel rings out like music in blithe counterpoint to the thud of boots against wood, and the 'blop' sounds the mud makes as it sucks at the cart.
Re: Ambush
As the driver does his best to fight off Jack but well he's just a guard.
The fight is making the cart makes some interesting motions and it starts to tip.
Re: Ambush
As the blanket-blinded bowman staggers toward Jack and the driver, Jack springs out of his way and up toward the side of the tipping cart -- which is rapidly becoming the top of the cart.
Perched safely on the wood there, he watches the collision on the deck below.
--CRASH--
Jack winces.
"That looked like it had to hurt, mate."
Re: Ambush
Then the wheel finally breaks as the cart capsizes.
Re: Ambush
"Ha! Take that, you flea-bitten mangy excuses for mongrels--"
It's only then that he realizes that the chest, instead of having fallen free, is trapped under the cart, in the mud.
"... oh bugger."
