Recovering Part 4

They find a door somewhere near 71st street and Will steps through to the Bar. He takes the bag of clothes and gives her a long kiss before leaving her to her teammates.

Inside, he gets a sandwich and drink from Bar to take upstairs as he looks in the bag and laughs at the Hawaiian shirt.

Upstairs, he puts on the speedo which makes him feel rather naked but it made Kate speechless which is worth a lot. Contented for the moment, he settles down on the bed to eat and soon naps after he eats.

When Kate returns he's stretched out on the bed in just the speedo, a trail of red hair leading down to it and a drink and sandwich on the bedside table.

All the pain he's gone through doesn't compare to this so he hugs her even tighter, not quite having the words to help her.

The fact he's not sure what to say is even harder so he buries his face in her hair as he hugs her as tightly as he can.

She's quiet again, and just hugged him back tightly. Light tremors briefly ran through her frame. Some time later, she felt tired enough to sleep again. This time, it was more restful with forgettable dreams.

It takes much longer for him to sleep as he watches over her but in time he does though his dreams are restless as he never lets go of her.

She snuggled closer in her sleep, almost nuzzling him as she slept by him.

He wakes up first as the morning light creeps into the room and looks down at her, not wishing to disturb her.

Her features were slack with sleep now, her chest gently moving up and down as she breathed deeply.

As the light moved across the bed, it reaches near her eyes, and she slowly wakes up. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, and then glanced over at Will.

"Morning... and I'm sorry."

He moves her hair off her face and kisses her forehead,

"Morn, na sure if ye should be 'pologizin'. I just kept sayin' the wrong thing."

"No... I... I just hoped you, everyone would be able to figure it out without me telling you. That you'd just somehow know."

"I knew somethin' was wrong but knowin' didna really do any good in the end."

She sighed and shook her head.

"No it didn't. The other Amberites could only delay it a little."

"Forgive me, Kate, would 'ave done more if I could."

"I know you would have. Wasn't right to yell at you like that. Not for that. Yelling at you for confronting Brand on your own... that's another story." Pointed glance at him.

He meets her eyes with a bit more of his old fire in them,

"That was somethin' I could do, so I did it. Wasna goin' to let 'im get 'way with what 'e was doin' to ye."

Answering fire from her now as she stated bluntly, "You shouldn't have done it alone, and definitely not out back. If you were in the bar, there would have been eyewitnesses and Security to back you up!"

"Wasna plannin' on fightin' 'im just wished to talk to 'im. Na me fault 'e was 'fraid o'me cause saw I could take ye 'way from 'im."

"You knew what he was, more than I did. You had more idea of what he could do, and you already didn't trust him. And you think you can just stroll up to him, and say stuff it without him attacking you? Come on, you should know better."

"Aye, 'rhaps was a bit stupid but 'ad to do somethin'. Lost me temper at 'im, the way 'e was talkin' o'ye."

She stroked his cheek, "Well, it's easy to get angry around him. Merlin once said people usually want to kill him after five minutes of meeting him. Though I guess that was demon him."

"Just love ye so much an felt 'im takin' ye farther way from me an felt so powerless."

He shifts into her hand and hugs her, moving slightly since in the mornings his side tends to get stiff.

"He was. You were right about that. A lot of that was that spell."

She hugged him carefully back, and a kiss before resting her forehead against his,

"Wish I 'adna been right since the whole thing's so 'ard. But ye're 'ere now though 'rhaps should talk to Doctor Crowe, since been 'nother sort o'trauma as ye'd say."

His hand moves through her hair as he leans against her more to hide a wince.

"No perhaps, I need to talk to him. So do you."

Another pointed glance, "And you can start by asking him to check your side. Or talk to Guppy."

"Aye, we do. Its 'ealin' just slow is all."

"You got re-injured, and you're aggravating it regularly. You're getting it checked over again."

He's not going to argue with that tone of voice,

"Aye, could just rest today."
